Dear Parents and Carers,

 

 

 

 

We hope you all had a very enjoyable holiday and would like to thank you for the lovely cards and gifts we received.  This is the second of our curriculum letters which will give you an overview of what the children have been learning at school.  This will help you support your child at home and encourage them to talk about what they have been doing at school.

Finding one more/one less from a group of objects or number.

Counting forwards and backwards from 0-10, 0-20.

Number recognition by playing Bingo!

 

Counting objects accurately to 10 and above.

Writing numbers.

 

2d and 3d shapes-describing them and naming them.

Language associated with volume and capacity-full, empty, more, less.

Golden Time as a reward for following the Golden Rules (Friday afternoons)

-Designing and making houses in 2d and 3d using a variety of materials,

Discuss different types of houses-flat, house, bungalow etc.

Physical Development

Gymnastics in the hall.

Travelling under and over equipment.

Recognising changes to our bodies when we exercise eg. Getting hot, panting, heart beating faster.

Ride on toys

Using a variety of small and large play equipment.

Developing cutting skills using scissors.

Fine motor skill development-drawing letters in shaving foam, pencil control name writing.  Accurate letter formation.

Creative Development

Music with Mrs. Tucker(Tuesday afternoons)

Singing familiar songs

Designing their own houses
